- Stack books flat to protect the spines
- Use pallets to keep them off the floor
CLOTHING and LINENS
- Clean all items first if practical
- Clothes store best on hangers
- Fold linens and other clothing carefully
- Store in cedar chests if possible or dresser

DISHES and GLASSWARE
- Use extra padding in boxes with glassware
- Wrap glass items individually
- Store the glasses at the top of the carton
- Stand cups, bowls, plates and saucers up
on edge
FURNITURE
- Place items on pallets or cardboard mats
- Stand sofas and mattresses on end
- Disassemble beds and tables and wrap legs
in paper
- Set solid tables upside down on padding on
the floor
- Place lighter weight items carefully on top
of table
- Stack lightweight chairs together 'seat to
seat'
- Use dresser tops for stacking more cartons
- Fill drawers with clothing, linens, and bedding
- Place a sheet or dust cover over your furniture
